REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Nursing invites applications for faculty in a variety of areas. CNNE accredited BSN, MSN, RN articulation, and Post-MSN programs provide opportunities to make a difference in healthcare delivery, teaching, and research. A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program was initiated in Fall 2008. Huntsville maintains one of the highest per capita incomes and standards of living in the Southeast. Surrounding areas present many healthcare needs with opportunities for research and practice. UAHuntsville offers academic and research programs in the Colleges of Nursing, Business Administration, Engineering, Science, and Liberal Arts.
The College of Nursing occupies a comfortable, aesthetically designed, four-story building with private faculty offices equipped with computers. Statistical and research consultation and computer services are provided. There are 650 students in the Undergraduate and RN programs, and 150 in the Master’s program (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Clinical Nursing Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Leadership, and Clinical Nurse Leader Tracks) and 20 in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Extensive distance education programs are offered. Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Education Certificate programs are also offered.
Candidates should possess a doctorate in nursing or related area and a master’s degree in nursing for tenure earning positions. Certification required for nurse practitioner faculty. Non-tenure earning clinical positions, requiring minimum of master’s degree in nursing, are available for faculty preferring an intensive clinical focus. Non-nurse applicants for research and technical support positions should possess a doctorate in appropriate field. Salary and rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
