Spring 2009

Saturday, March 14, Huntsville Feminist Chorus Spring Concert, "Bread and Roses," 7:30 p.m., Roberts Recital Hall at UAHuntsville.  Free admission.  This year’s theme is “Bread and Roses,” honoring the Bread and Roses labor strike of 1912, led by women and men textile workers and labor organizers Elizabeth Gurley Flynn of the IWW and muckracker Ida Tarbell.  Judy Collins popularized their marching song “Bread and Roses” in the 1970s.  Wait till you hear the HFC’s arrangement of that song! As usual, you can expect an uplifting evening of songs that empower women.  Information: bettyc@hiwaay.net or 824-6210.

Monday, April 6, 11:30-12:30, Union Grove Gallery and Meeting Hall, UAH.
