Scholarships of Interest to UAH Women
Last updated
February 15, 2008
All of these scholarships are available to UAH students. Some are also
available to students at other Huntsville colleges and universities. It's
important to note that several of these do not go through the UAH Financial
Aid Office. That means students must fill out separate applications.
One advantage of this is that students may win more than one of these
scholarships. For endowed scholarships handled through the UAH Financial
Aid Office, students may win only one scholarship. Note
that
December 1 is the deadline for the UAH Financial Aid
Office (changed from the old deadline of February 1). Many
scholarships on this page have other deadlines because they are not handled
through the UAH Financial Aid Office.
Harris Scholarship - the UAH Women's
Studies program offers a $700 scholarship each year to a Women's Studies minor.
Deadline for priority consideration is February
1, but applications may be considered after February 1.
Students apply through the UAH Financial Aid office but should notify the
Director of Women's Studies to make sure the application is channeled correctly.
This is an endowed scholarship, so the amount of the award may vary. For
further information, contact the Director of Women's Studies, 824-2298.
AAUW (American Association of University Women) - had offered a $500
scholarship to a woman student each year at each of the three local colleges and
universities (Alabama A&M University, Oakwood College, and UAH). They now
offer instead financial support for students at these schools to attend the
AAUW Student Leadership Conference in June in Washington, DC.

it will normally cover tuition for at least one course. Applications go
